Hollowood
Music and Sound Inc.
is a family-owned and operated business that was started
in 1965 by Jim "Big Jim" Hollowood, primarily
for lessons and sales of guitars.
As the popularity of the guitar grew so did the demand
for more sophisticated public address systems and all
other areas in the music field: such as electronic keyboards,
amplifiers, drums and effects. |
Hollowood
Music became Pittsburgh's premiere
music store for the next four decades, outfitting not
only local talent with musical gear, but on many occasions,
national talent as well. Run by Don Hollowood, Hollowood
Music to this day continues to be a leader
in musical sales.
As the technology became more sophisticated, so did the
need for electronic service. Hollowood was the first store
in the area to employ a full time staff to repair everything
that it sold and more. Hollowood's Service Department
is still considered the best in the tri-state area.

The ability to design and manufacture
custom public address systems led us to form Hollowood
Pro Sound Division. Run by Gary and Brad Hollowood,
the Pro Sound Division is responsible
for the majority of concerts that are brought to Pittsburgh
by Live Nation and others. We provide sound for performances
at Heinz Field, Heinz Hall, the Benedum, the Three Rivers
Regatta, Post-Gazette Pavilion, Three Rivers Arts Festival
and more. Nationally, we have provided sound for air shows
and religious events across the country. Internationally,
our system has toured in Africa. |
Upon establishing a successful
reputation in sales and service, we expanded to create
the Hollowood
Installation Division, headed by Jim Hollowood Jr.,
Ken Coey, and Rob Lane. Their "down to earth",
honest approach to sales has made them well respected
figures in the commercial sound industry.
The four divisions that are Hollowood
Music and Sound Inc. offer a variety of ways to
serve you. Included in the four divisions are a great
deal of other music related services that we can offer:

all types of musical instruments, amplifiers, recording
equipment etc.

on most musical instruments

Hollowood Music and Sound has been
serving musicians for over 40 years. We carry over 100
major brand instruments and music equipment.
We are located only ten minutes from downtown Pittsburgh
on Rte 51 North in McKees Rocks.
