Corey Congilio

Professional Guitarist

Corey Congilio began his professional playing career at the edge of fourteen in his hometown of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. As a teenager he performed with various rock and blues groups. At the age of eighteen he moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he received an Associate Degree in Specialized Business (emphasis on Audio Engineering). More importantly, he began playing regularly in the Pittsburgh club scene and surrounding areas including Ohio and West Virginia. By age 19 Corey was playing in one of the busiest blues bands in Pittsburgh and creating a name for himself. Over the next 3 years Corey had played in numerous groups varying stylistically from rock, RnB, blues, funk, country and swing.

Coerced by legendary session guitarist Brent Mason, Corey moved to Nashville in April 2001 and began auditioning in the area. He ultimately landed a gig with Monument Recording artist Joe Diffie.

After the stint with Diffie, Corey moved back to Pittsburgh to begin a teaching practice that currently consists of over 50 private students a week. With Nashville recording and playing experience, Corey began to produce, record, and perform regularly in a town not typically known for its music scene.

To date Corey has also done various recording sessions, again running the gamut of genres. He has currently finished production on an EP for a local country artist and is currently working on demo material for various local artists.

Corey performs locally and regionally on a monthly basis. He performs with a group of Pittsburgh veterans called simply "The House Band". This group showcases his lead vocal abilities, as well as his love for improvising with like mninded players.

Corey is available for lessons at Hollowood's on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday and can be reached at 412.953.8798.
