An accomplished pianist and flautist with 20 years experience, Ms. Lisa Rae Vaughan performs professionally throughout Western Pennsylvania and is the owner / instructor for the Lisa Rae Music Studio. Frequently she is called upon to appear with the outstanding Butler Symphony, the popular Latin / Salsa Dance Band, Guaracha, and the Imaginarium Ð an expressive arts and music program for children. As a soloist and accompanist, she performs regularly for weddings, worship services, and social gatherings. Ms. Vaughan also maintains active memberships in the Pittsburgh Piano Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National and Pennsylvania State Associations. For the benefit of her students, she holds current PA Act 33/34 criminal and child safety clearances. The success of the Lisa Rae Music Studio has led to public speaking engagements about effectively running a small business and making the transition from employee to employer. Experienced in Music Curriculum Development and Studio Management, Ms. Vaughan consults with grassroots arts groups and non-profit organizations to offer assistance and direction in establishing or enhancing a music programs within their communities.
Ms. Vaughan was graduated from Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University where she studied classical piano with Nelson Whitaker. First trained in classical and sacred music by her mother, Natheleen Murphy Vaughan, she broadened her musical horizons through private studies with flautist James Walker, formerly of the Pittsburgh Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and co-founder of the jazz ensemble "Free Flight". Most recently, she studied jazz piano with the national touring pianist, Frank Cunimondo and attended the Jamie Aebersold "Jazz Camp" in Lousiville, KY. Ms. Vaughan earned a Bachelor of Science double degree from Carnegie Mellon in Electrical / Computer Engineering and Engineering Public Policy.
Established in 1994 as a Pennsylvania female owned business, the Lisa Rae Music Studio has provided comprehensive music lessons to nearly 400 students from 65 public/private/parochial schools in 20 school districts, several preschools and home schools, and 3 universities & colleges. In 1996, the Lisa Rae Music was featured in the publication Successful Women. In 2001, the studio launched its Piano Teachers Plus Network to bring quality instruction to students in their own neighborhoods Ð at their schools, churches, community centers, and local music stores.
