Tim Baurle

Professional Guitar Instructor

Tim Baurle is our full time guitar instructor. Tim has been teaching at Hollowood since 1997 and was recently appointed to oversee the guitar/bass lesson department. Although he is well versed in many styles of disciplines, he specializes in fingerstyle jazz guitar and focuses on its unique role as a solo instrument.

No styles or approaches are discouraged as Tim provides all students with valuable insight culled from many years of teaching and performing experience. His students range from absolute beginners to seasoned pros and quickly develop a comfort level with him. Many former students have chosen to major in music in schools such as Berklee School of Music and University of Pittsburgh among others. As a performer, he plays a Novax 8-string guitar, which enables him to handle guitar and bass chores simultaneously. Mr Baurle has performed both as a soloist and with various small ensembles at public venues, such as Club Cafe, Crawford Grill and Dowe's on 9th in addition to many private functions. He is often hired by local area high schools to perform on guitar and banjo in their music theatre orchestras. Tim is a 1993 graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University (Winchester, VA) and holds a Bacholor of Music in Composition with a minor in applied guitar. Past teachers include Vaughn Laofstead (private guitar), Mr. Tom Snyder (music theory, jazz ensemble) and Dr. William Averitt (composition).
